Objetivo
Oportunizar o aluno a conhecer os clássicos da Literatura Norte-Americana através do Ensino de Língua Inglesa, estimulando-o ao questionamento, à crítica e à produção.

1- About the autor

· His real name was Samuel Langhorne Clemens.
· He was American.
· He lived in Hannibal, Missouri (USA).
· From 1853 to 1854, he was a journalist.
· In 1856 he was a pilot for the boats on the Mississippi River.
· In that time they used steamboats to cross the rivers.


Why Mark Twain?

· To know how deep the river was, a man threw a rope in the water. There were marks on the rope at every 3 feet. Then, the man looked at the mark on the rope. He saw the depth of the water. Sometimes he shouted to the pilot “Mark Twain”. This meant “Second mark”. Samuel heard this shout many times. When he wrote his stories, he took these words for his name- Mark Twain.
· In 1870 he got married to Olivia Langdon. They had two daughters.
· He died in 1910.

2- Book: The Adventures of Tom Sawyer

This book is one of the books written by Mark Twain and Tom Sawyer is one of the characters created by the author. The book is divided in 15 chapters and each chapter is a Tom Sawyer and his friends’ adventure. Today we're going to work with chapter 2. Before we begin to work with it, let’s know a little about Tom Sawyer.
