Why Mark Twain?

· To know how deep the river was, a man threw a rope in the water. There were marks on the rope at every 3 feet. Then, the man looked at the mark on the rope. He saw the depth of the water. Sometimes he shouted to the pilot “Mark Twain”. This meant “Second mark”. Samuel heard this shout many times. When he wrote his stories, he took these words for his name- Mark Twain.
